Advent

The entire Bible is about the epic history, the world-shaping saga of God’s redemptive purpose for humankind. This story builds to a glorious crescendo in the arrival of Jesus.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind…” (John 1:1-4a)

In the historic church calendar, the season of Advent extends for 4 Sundays leading up to Christmas, and culminates on Christmas day. Throughout December, Greenleaf invites you to celebrate the advent, or “arrival” of Jesus, the King. The INBREAKING of his Kingdom is the light and life that we all so profoundly need.

Join us for any (or all!) of four life-giving Christmas messages:

12.3 – The Power of Hope. Hope can seem elusive, but there are ways we can invite it’s blooming as we expect Christ’s appearing.

12.10 – The Power of Peace. The angels heralded the inbreaking with a word of “peace” to humankind. What kind of peace does Jesus bring in a troubled world?

12.17 – The Power of Joy. An angel spoke to shepherds about “great joy” at the birth of the King. How can joy drive out our fears?

12.24 – The Power of Love. The inbreaking of the Kingdom is the inbreaking of love. God loves all people with passion, and we can therefore love him in return.
